It is the time of year when we all should be preparing for our Mardi Gras parties so get out that pad of paper and write down this tasty bayou burger recipe to ensure your Mardi Gras meal will be sensational.
Here are the ingredients and directions for these very tasty Bayou Burgers.
2 Onions – small sized
4 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
½ Pound Andouille Sausage – fully cooked, casing removed and finely chopped
2 teaspoons of Creole seasoning
1 ½ teaspoons of garlic powder – divided
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
2 Pounds of Ground Turkey
½ Pound of Turkey Italian Sausage Link – casing removed
8 Slices of your Favorite Cheddar Cheese
1 Cup of Miracle Whip
4 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons of Hot Pepper Sauce
4 teaspoons of Sweet Pickle Relish
2 teaspoons of capers – drained
8 Kaiser Rolls – split
2 Tablespoons of butter
Saute onions until tender in a large skillet. Add Andouille sausage, cook for another minute. Put onions and sausage into a large bowl. Put Creole seasoning, ½ teaspoon garlic powder into the sausage and onion mixture. Also add salt and pepper. Now, put turkey and turkey sausage into the sausage mixture. Shape into eight evenly formed patties.
Cook burger patties in a large skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until your meat thermometer reaches 165 degrees and the burger juices run clear. Now, put a slice of cheese on each burger, cover for about 1 minute until cheese is melted.
Remoulade Sauce Directions:
Put Miracle Whip, lemon juice, relish, capers and pepper sauce into a small bowl. Mix these ingredients until well blended.
Now, spread the rolls with butter and remaining garlic powder. Broil 4 inches from the heat for about 3 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve the Bayou Burgers and Remoulade on the broiled buns.
