The Perfect White Cake Recipe – This recipe has been doubled, great for big crowds. If you want to make it for only a few people just cut the recipe in half.

1 Cup of Softened Butter

1 Cup of Shortening

4 Cups of Sugar

6 Cups of Cake Flour

8 teaspoons of Baking Powder

1 teaspoon of Salt

1 1/3 Cups of Milk

1 1/3 Cups of Water

4 teaspoons of Vanilla Extract

1 1/2 teaspoons of Almond Extract

12 Egg Whites

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Use an electric mixer, on a medium speed, beat shortening and butter, then slowly add sugar, beat until everything is thoroughly combined. Using a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt, then add small amounts of the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing the two mixtures together.

Now, add milk and water, alternating these two ingredients (one and than the other, until everything has been added to the butter mixture). Remember to beat everything together as you are adding each ingredient, now, add the extracts.

Using another mixing bowl, beat egg whites until they form small peaks, then gently fold them into the butter mixture. Now, place mixture into a sprayed or greased cake pan, then bake for about 30-40 minutes. You can use a toothpick or skewer to test the cake to see if it is done, just gently poke your toothpick in the center of the cake and if it comes out clean than the cake is baked, cool cake on cooling rack.

Now, slice cake into small bite-sized pieces, then place a few pieces in a white hexagon glass (that you can get from Restaurantware). Now, top the cake with blackberries or other cake garnish.
