Tasty Chinese Wonton Recipe
12 ounces of ground pork
4 scallions – chopped (make sure to chop both the white and green parts of the scallions)
8 ounces of shiitake mushrooms – chopped
About 1/2 inch of fresh ginger – peeled and shredded
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
2 Tablespoon of cilantro – chopped
2 Tablespoons of soy sauce
Fresh ground pepper
2 beaten eggs (use large eggs)
40 wonton wrappers
Lettuce or Napa Cabbage
Dust Baking Sheet with cornstarch. Mix together pork, mushrooms, ginger, scallions, soy sauce, pepper, cilantro and sesame oil.
Using a scoop or spoon, take a small amount of the pork mixture and place it in the center of each wonton, then using a brush (you can also use the tips of your fingers) spread a little egg around the edge of each wonton. Now, fold wonton in half and put on a baking sheet.
Place water in a large saucepan, make sure pan is filled with about 1/4 of the way with water, then line a steamer bucket with lettuce and wontons. Now, put the steamer bucket on a rack so it sits above the water that you placed in the pan. Cover pan and cook dumplings until they are cooked all the way through, this should take about ten minutes.
Now, take wontons out of the steamer and place in a modern serving tray, the best serving tray is a medium bamboo boat. Hope you all enjoy this super tasty treat.
